On the evening of August 29, 2026, Louisville law enforcement responded to E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park after receiving a report at approximately 6:59 PM of a man found hanging in a wooded area near the Goose Creek Trail. The location was deep within a large, difficult-to-access section of the park, north of the open fields and further into the forest. Officers deployed specialized ATV units to reach the scene. Witnesses assisted by providing directions and GPS coordinates to help guide responding personnel. Police coordinated with fire and EMS to manage the scene. Multiple law enforcement units responded from different access points around the park.

Under investigation. Homicide detectives were reportedly contacted because of the circumstances surrounding the incident. No official cause or manner of death has been determined. Authorities have not stated whether criminal activity was involved. The Louisville Metro Police Department has not released the identity of the deceased.
